Making The Changes That Matter

Pain and Unease (Dis-ease)

It is understandable that many view the physical aches and pains and painful debilitating conditions which can be experienced in the body as being caused by one particular (or a series of) physical activity; or lack of physical activity, or poor conditioning, or poor posture, or repetitive strain, or being over weight, or an ankle sprain, or a fall, or muscle tension or the commonly used but more often misunderstood label of 'stress', to name only some. All have a physiological effect on the body; with pain, ache and / or stiffness being felt as your body tries to adapt mechanically to the physical pressures and strains imposed.

While there are a variety of physiological / pathological reasons why a person experiences pain / discomfort; there are other more significant underlying reasons for peoples' pain and unease (and even dis-ease). Pain in its many forms, is the body's mechanism for alerting you that there is something wrong... something in your life which is out of balance. Long before a 'physical problem' develops, the body gives its warning signs...

For most of us we choose not to listen... it is inconvenient! Some of us opt to medicate; switching off the body's alert mechanism... Others work harder... even longer, dulling the senses or keeping busy so that we don't feel.

"Our level of energy determines our level of awareness. We all experience low levels of energy at different times in our lives so this is nothing new to us. However the effects of low energy will impact on our lives in many different ways. Some will find it difficult to concentrate, be irritable or have different levels of exhaustion. Having low energy over a considerable length of time will impact on our health and wellbeing. We are energy and without it there is no life." John Murphy, The Trueway
