Our Approach
A hands-on, patient centered approach
Identifying the underlying cause of your symptoms and helping you to fully understand how they evolved, is central to the Physical Therapy Approach.
Taking a 'Whole Body' perspective, the Physical Therapist works with you to:
- Determine, through postural analysis, how changes in your musculo-skeletal structure lead to the development of your condition and contribute to your persisting symptoms.
- Assess gait analysis and foot mechanics in detail (if necessary).
- Evaluate your movement capabilities through a series of manual testing.
- Assess the changes that have occurred to connective tissues (fascial, muscular, tendinous, capsular and ligamentous) through skilful palpation.
- Design, following analysis of the findings, your Treatment Programme to meet your specific needs.
Through treatment the Physical Therapist intervenes to stimulate and enhance your own physiological healing capabilities.
Over a course of treatment the Physical Therapist works with you to achieve specific and measurable outcomes.
- Skilfully working the connective tissues in a strategic and methodical manner, the Physical Therapist lengthens shortened muscles, releases fascial adhesions and softens tissues which, over time, hardened, preventing ease of movement.
- Space is created and the joints housed in the tissues, which lock out of normal position over time, move into their proper alignment. The tissues now unhindered, glide freely allowing for the restoration of pain-free and natural movement of the joints.
- A strengthening and stabilisation Programme is undertaken to maintain these changes. A stretching routine and techniques for better self care provide you with the ability to minimise / prevent re-occurrence ensuring a more fulfilling and healthy lifestyle.
